This is going to be SO long and overdone, I'm super sorry, but GOD I need to get this off my chest. I saw a really bad MAP and now I'm mad.
The fandom has honestly really made me hate Crow Family. I used to find their fucked up family relationship kind of interesting and fun to read about, but all this "Crowfeather is just a poor victim to the cruel, cruel world and Nightcloud is an evil women for abusing everyone around her" kind of shit just makes me want to vomit! Like here are some of the really stupid shit people say:
"Nightcloud is the worse cat for clawing Crowfeather when he protected Leafpool from Breezepelt!"
First off, Nightcloud didn't 'claw' him, she 'gripped him strongly with her claws.' There was never any mention of blood being drawn or Crowfeather being hurt (which the book WOULD have mentioned). Second, that was shitty and irrational of her, but EVERYONE in that scene was being shitty and irrational! Pointing to only her shittiness is stupid and pointless!
"She used Crowfeather for kits and that's bad!"
We got that information from a non-main series book. Since when did we start trusting non-main series books when we know full well that they're usually chock-full of flat-out wrong or rectconned information?
(ALSO, even that were cannon, I fully believe that cat-marrying someone purely to prove your loyalty is much worse than... Wanting to have babies...)
"She convinced Breezepelt that Crowfeather hated him!"
Show me your sources. I'm not kidding, do it. I'm fully convinced you have not read the book, because that has never once been mentioned (unless you count that one stupid, non-main series book where it's mentioned that Nightcloud 'coddles' Breezepelt, even though that's never shown anywhere else).
"She didn't let Crowfeather see his son when he almost died!"
She was being a worried mother?? It's also never stated whether or not she didn't let Crowfeather see his son because she hated him or anything??? Like, I guess that's kind of bad, but it's not like Crowfeather would've cared to see his son, anyways.
I'm not kidding, people act like Crowfeather was (or would've been) a good dad to Breezepelt, even though it's shown time and time again in main series books that he's actually kinda shitty to him!
He's distant, he doesn't want to connect with Breezepelt even when he has a chance to when they go on that journey (he actually sighs when he has to take his son and yells at him to hurry up, even though they don't have to hurry), he literally hits his son hard over the head ("But Breezepelt was being mean to Purdy when Crowfeather hit him!" Don't even try to justify abuse. Hitting your kid teaches them nothing and can actually lead to more problems. shut the fuck up.) and he tells his son mean shit about Leafpool while she's around to make her upset.
This fandom has a really bad habit of babying male characters when they do things wrong and acting like as if the female characters in those situations are the devils, and it just...
Like I used to think people who would say things like "The warriors fandom is full of sexism" were crazy, but now I'm starting to understand where they're coming from with people like Crowstans, Bramblestans, Applestans, Bumblestans, etc in this godforsaken place.
It's all probably the Erins fault for not pointing out and addressing abusive behaviours in their characters properly, but kghjdfjgdf.......
