chrysocolla: a money-making headcanon

During his life in exile; Thorin was among other things, a blacksmith for hire. While they settled into different lands in the west, it was all he could do to make some sort of life for the kin he was left with after the fall of Erebor. A sort of guard for hire was another taking on, but that was hard to pin down due to many men preferring someone of their own stature. He built, he crafted, anything to make extra coin to put right back into his people and barely any for himself.

rhodonite: if my muse prefers elegance or convenience

This is only slightly more complex; for elegance now as a King is a big deal to him. It is all about station if you think heavily on it, and Thorin has plenty to share. He would prefer elegance in his birthright; but before all of that convenience is what helped him and his people.

bare feet pad along cold, stone floors of the survey corps’ current headquarters. the sun has long since set, the corridors lit by little more than a few torches at every other yard, and silence fills the halls. they haven’t been here for long—— less than a week, really—— and the path from her quarters to the kitchen is still hazy in her mind. she turns down another hall, hoping to find some familiar structure to help refresh her memory. instead, she is met with the form of her smaller, but nonetheless INTIMIDATING superior. most of the soldiers knew by now that he often roamed headquarters late; most assumed due to the e x t e n s i v e amount of work he had to finish. so with a small twinge of nervousness, she hesitantly calls out in attempt to gain his attention.
