The one place you’d never think to look for Farkle Minkus was at a party. The awkward genius never had the social grace for such things. Neither had he’d ever been invited to one. Especially upon entering college. His days mostly filled with studying and working on next week’s homework. But Maya had dragged him to this party. Telling him he needed to get out more. Make friends other than her and Riley.
Which, for him was an accomplishment. Having two really good friends like them was more than he could ever ask for. He didn’t think he needed anyone else. But of course, Maya thought otherwise. She’d even picked out his clothes for him. A casual grey button up shirt. Even rolled up the sleeves for him and fixed his hair a bit. He’d spent the first half an hour lingering in the corner by the drink table until Maya decided to leave him and let him mingle on his own. Which, was a bad choice on her part. Because he would just stay where he was and probably not even take a sip out of the red plastic cup in his hands. He knew full well he’d never taken a sip of alcohol and he had a test tomorrow which he couldn’t risk anything less an a. Which meant no drinking and that he’d probably try to sneak out within the next hour. He’s sure no one would even notice.
Except things didn’t go as planned. Because the hour had passed. Farkle was about to making his exit when he was stopped by Riley who’d made her way over with a blonde boy. She introduced him and to his surprise they’d hit it off well. Farkle was always talkative, but he mostly talked nonsense that no one really understood. But with Lucas, it just seemed to flow naturally. It wasn’t awkward or weird. He was surprised at how much he was enjoying himself.
Then he’d heard Lucas’ sudden question. Brows furrowed as his eyes widened at his request. Was this something that happened in college? This was all so new to him. His question left his speechless and frazzled. He was sure his cheeks had flushed; which was definitely not from the insane amount of body heat the room exuberated.
His eyes didn’t leave the boy though. And noticed his gaze flickered and his eyes followed--and now it all made sense. He was trying to make his ex jealous. He felt Lucas’ hand take hold of his and leaned into him. His gaze flickered a bit as they drew closer to him. He could feel the knots forming in his stomach. He was hesitant, he didn’t want to kiss him first. But maybe he should. If only he had alcohol in him right now. Maybe that’s what he needed.
His gaze flickered to the side as he noticed Lucas’ ex and their group growing closer. He could feel his heart race in his chest even more as they neared them. And without thinking, he dropped the cup in his hand and cupped the back of the blonde’s neck and pulled him into a kiss right as the group had passed them. He could feel the corners of his lips curling as he pulled away. Still frazzled. He could feeling the tingle against his lips as the warmth of his cheeks.
“I--I hope that was okay?” Lips now pressed into a thin line.
