"Look at the moon Katniss" he breathed in awe It was a harvest moon, full and orange and huge. It looked so close that it felt as though they could touch it, but Katniss couldn't quite see all of it over the wall of corn in front of her. "Let me help you get a good look" Peeta picked her up by the waist and lifted her up into the air. His strong arms held her against his chest like a child. They stood for a moment gazing at the beautiful light cast by the harvest moon. How perfect it was to be here on Halloween away from all of the city and crowds of children clamoring for candy. The quiet comfort of the moonlight and Peeta together made her heart skip a beat. He slowly started to set her down on the ground, but Katniss found herself facing him. Staring into his eyes and getting lost in the depth. His breath seemed to quicken and his hands shook a little as her feet touched solid ground. Her legs wobbled a bit as she held onto the front of his sweatshirt to steady herself, noticing how close his face was to hers. "Would it be okay if I kissed you?" Peeta breathed quietly near her ear
"Yes" was all she could whisper, her heartbeat pounding in her ears so hard she was sure he could hear it As their lips touched gently she leaned in melting into his touch. Her eyes closed as she savored the sweet taste of mint on his breath. His lips parting slightly while he drew her closer with a low groan. His hand brushed her hair back from her face as he reluctantly broke the kiss. Her skin felt as thought a fire had touched where his lips were. This wasn't her first kiss, but it was the first to make her feel hungry for more. "I've wanted to do that since the moment I met you" he hummed near her ear Nothing could have made the evening more perfect.
