THINKING ABT CHILUC <33
“I love you.”
That’s what Diluc wanted to say, that what he should’ve said, but of course he didn’t. “I don’t have time for any Fatui scum like you.” He wanted to punch himself, fold himself up into a box.
“Oh. Well that’s fine.” He watched as Childe looked away, swiftly raising his hand to his eye. “I-I should go, huh?” He whispered, voice cracking as he lowered his head slightly.
Diluc stayed silent, disgusted with himself for saying such a thing. He had spent months pining over him, wishing for a day he could have Childe in his embrace. A day where they could be happy, where Diluc could be happy.
Childe stepped forward, holding his hand out. “See you next time…alright?” Diluc nodded, turning around to make his way back to the dinery. He listened as Childe’s footsteps moved in the opposite direction.
That night, everyone at the Dawn Winery knew something had happened. Diluc had come in, eyes red and puffy from the tears he’d spilled in secret. Arms red from squeezing in frustration. And yet no one dared to approach him. All except Adelinde.
“Master Diluc. Is this about Tartaglia?” She questioned as she stood outside the door to his bedroom. “If it is, I say you should truly tell him how you feel.” He threw open the door, wiping at his cheeks.
“Adelinde, I’m supposed to hate the Fatui. So why do I-…why do I love him? He’s part of the reason Father’s gone..so why does my chest hurt so much?” She smiled, reaching out to brush the hair from his face. “Because all that you feel for him, is stored up and weighing you down. If you do truly love that man, he deserves to know.”
She dropped her hand, turning around to make her way down the stairs. “It’s your choice Master Diluc.” He stood there, staring at the wooden floorboards beneath him. “It’s my choice.”
And his choice was to tell him.
He hurriedly made his way through the gate of Monstadht, making his way towards the Goth Grand Hotel. He entered and walked to the reception desk, breathing heavily. “Is um, Tartaglia here?”
“He just left.” The receptionist stated flatly, pointing outside the doors. “He said something about going to Windrise.” Diluc sighed in relief, blurting out a quick thank you before leaving.
Windrise. Why Windrise? He asks himself that question over and over until he sees him. Sitting all one his own near the lake, body shuddering from his sobs. Even crying, he seemed to glow in the light of the moon.
“Childe.” He turn around, quickly wiping at his face. “Diluc, w-what are you doing here?..” He asks, giving him a weak smile. Diluc steps forward silently, grabbing Childe’s shoulders.
“…is something wrong.” Diluc stares at him, tears forming in his eyes before he leans forward. And he kisses Childe, kisses him softly, wanting to freeze this moment and remember it forever
He pulls away, the tears now sliding down his face. “I love you Childe. I love you so much.” He croaked out, leaning his head to rest on Childe’s shoulder. “But I didn’t tell you because how can I love a Fatui Harbinger?”
Childe smiled sweetly as Diluc buried his face into the crook of his neck. “We’ll figure it out. No need to cry, m’kay?”
Diluc nodded, pulling away to wipe his sleeve across his face. “Childe, please stay with me..” He whispered, looking up to meet Childe’s gaze.
“Of course I’ll stay with you.”
