Pace Line is Back: Volume 2

Last week I had high hopes of getting the second Pacer Line out there. Due to one crazy school week schedule it was not in the cards. That is the beauty and the curse of doing your own thing; there is no one to blame but yourself. And with that preamble, let’s press on. 

First things first, winter is coming and this year I have a new running jacket on the brain. Since I have already secured my often dreamed of fleece lined tights we are on to the next keep her warm and running item. At this time here is the front runner jacket, check out all of those pockets? Dreamy. My needs are water resistant, breathable, not too warm but will block the wind. I am still looking but we may have a winner here with the Wallace jacket. Will keep you posted on this little project. The other day I wore my old jacket and was pretty close to tossing it when I got finished with my run. For the record after that same run my socks ended up in the trash since they were creeping too deep into my shoes. The struggle is real! 

This is a tiny bit off track but have you seen Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton yet? If you have not, do yourself a favor, they rock. JT hails from Memphis and clearly knows a thing or two beyond the falsetto we have known and loved over the years. Long live JT! 

Girls! Look at that jumpie! And you are welcome.

As of late the Washington Post has been printing all sorts of endurance articles in the news. This article about a recent world record swim across the English Channel is inspiring even to this non-swimmer. I had to laugh when Mr. Clifford asked who has ever seen a thin walrus? Classic cold water swimming humor. 

The other day the Post also printed an article on Ultramarathon running. To me this felt a bit dismissive of all that is ultra running. It is a big deal and not primarily about bug bites and blister, well, it could be but who really cares about that? It was cool to see local guy Mike Wardian included but he is such a force I don’t feel like they did him justice either. No matter, the fact a mainstream paper is covering a niche running distance is kind of cool. 

Here is a post from my fellow Oiselle teammate Courtney about maintaining your running form. Good form keeps you healthy and the more reminders on this the better for all! I am pretty sure she also goes to Endurance Athlete Center, these tips sure do look familiar. 

With that, have a great weekend, get outside, stretch yourself. My oldest is turning 8 this weekend so we have major fun on tap.

As people continue to try to sort out the past April 10th election results many, like those in this Washington Post article are now shifting their focus/blame on Peru's existing President, Alan Garcia.

Whether this is the case or not largely depends on one's political leanings.  Some will say that Garcia has all the blame for not working harder to prevent such poorly qualified candidates from making it to the second rounds.  Still others believe that there is little that Mr. Garcia could do to influence the election given his poor approval rating and his lack of credibility by a large part of the electorate. 

Does Mr. Gracia have a well enhanced ego...Yes.  Is it big enough to put at risk the progress and development of an entire nation....Who knows.
