"grant me the following in the name of our lord jesus christ. like a leper rotting in flesh, let all avoid me. like a cripple without limbs, let me not move freely. remove my cheeks, that tears may not roll down them. crush my lips and tongue, that i may not sin with them. pull out my nails, that i may not grasp nothing. let my shoulders and back be bent, that I may carry nothing. like a man with tumor in the head let me lack judgment. ravage my body sworn to chastity leave me with no pride, and have me live in shame. let no one pray for me. but only the grace of the lord jesus christ have mercy on me."

tbh from what I know of The Pitt or Heated Rivalry fandoms I don't necessarily agree that it's crazier than any fandom that's ever existed before. I think 1) social media has become very centralised so now conversations between fans that used to happen on fan specific forums and sites are now happening on mainstream sites because those smaller sites and forums either no longer exist or have become too irrelevant 2) because these fandom activities are happening on more mainstream sites they're more visible to "normies" (for lack of a better word), as well as people who actually work in media which means that 3) not only is this fan culture more visible and therefore more accessible to more ppl who aren't typically involved in fandoms, but it's also the most exploitable it's ever been so it gets mined for content like anything else does which makes the fandom even more hypervisible which makes the fans even more intensive and it becomes a feedback loop that 4) is exacerbated too by the fact that creators are now a log in away from seeing what fans really think of their work unfiltered for free which adds another layer of potential exploitation that fans themselves are aware of in an already fraught fandom ecosystem that 5) was changed fundamentally post-covid lockdowns because that was ground zero for the flesh world and online world becoming synthesised in a way that can't be undone so now people approach all online discussions and discourses, including fandom, the same as flesh world discourses because there is no line between these spheres anymore (which is not me saying that what's said on the internet didn't matter before, it did, just not in the same way). All of this is me trying to say that the technocratic billionaire class have reshaped the world and the internet and social media in such a way that is incredibly hostile to practising fandom as a subculture and newer fandoms ultimately reflect that paradigm shift....and it's a paradigm that makes me sad. More than anything else.

My name is Finn and I’m in charge
making another cartoon with darth maul, a character who was resurrected in supplemental television and returned for many seasons in multiple shows and already killed off again, is so creatively destitute it's almost not funny
actually i can't talk about this whole robby/samira thing without wording it in a way where someone won't take it in the most bad faith way possible, but i just have to get this out of my system no matter how imperfect my thoughts are.
as a tamil doctor and as a woman, i can't help but see so much of myself in samira and it just physically hurts to see her character be mistreated all season only to have her entire storyline end with some underwhelming conversation that was supposed to patch things up between her and robby. women are so often the punching bags of deeply troubled men in the workplace, especially in healthcare and it sucks so much and while they got that part right in the show... they're telling me i'm actually supposed to be focusing on the pain of the man inflicting that kinda behaviour on a woman of colour. i'm sorry but i can't. this show demands my empathy and understanding for robby as an audience member and i just can't do that while i've been in samira's position and i know how unfair that is and how much it hurts. i've had brilliant male attendings who were good teachers and good doctors talk down to, discourage, mock and belittle me just because they were having a bad day and while i can acknowledge they weren't doing well, no one acknowledged how much of an adverse effect that had on my mental health. exactly like how no one's actually addressed how any of that stuff that robby said must've affected samira.
this show is so accurate that they're showing the actual racism and sexism that is so pervasive in healthcare but the writers have no idea they're actually doing that because those biases are just organic and are showing themselves in the writing. these people are actively patting themselves on the back for the good writing they've been doing and how robby is just a flawed individual instead of a doctor who is actively impeding the growth of his residents. none of these people including noah wyle have even mentioned their biases at all in interviews because they have no idea.
hey guys why do dana, langdon, duke, abbot, etc. all get to have heart to hearts with robby and really genuinely confront him about his issues and be portrayed as his close friends and equals meanwhile javadi is seeking approval from him(???) and mohan is apologizing to him(???) and al-hashimi gets her confidence absolutely shaken by him. like hey guys. why is the writing like that. what's different about javadi and mohan and al-hashimi do you think
