seriously i don’t think it is alarmist to almost assume that some aspect(s) our infrastructure will fail catastrophically within the next decade. The buzz about acidic water and my city’s plumbing system is happening here. all of our systems are like this and all of our water is dirty. our city’s sewer system fails international code requirements; it floods into the rivers when there is a lot of rain. There is a lot of rain, and often. and we’re only a fracking earthquake away from major pipeline disruption. our city, and many others, don’t have complete plans of the systems in place. they will be very costly to fix. we need to spend this money. this is what civilization is.
and the roads... and the walkways (and the lack of walkways), and the various flora, fauna, fungi blights on the soil and plantlife. and the vermin... oof.
