When I entered the room, Sir Sycip (middle), the legendary pillar of the audit firm Sycip Gorres and Velayo (SGV), was elaborating, with a soft voice but animated and emotionally-charged, on the Philippine public health sector issues. Last Sunday, according to news reports, he passed away while on a plane bound for Canada. He was 96. #SGV #sycip #salute #respect #washingtonsycip

The Ballad of Washington SyCip

One afternoon with the legend whose name is synonymous to Integrity and Excellence in Philippine Accounting and Nation Building.

He founded the Asian Institute of Management and is known for having built the accounting profession in the country. Also the founder of the iconic SGV, for more than six decades now the firm has become the standard, providing services for some of the largest and most powerful companies. But beyond business, his heart belongs to philanthropy.

Retired since 1996, Washington SyCip shares what keeps him going at 94.
