Tucker looses his voice, wether it be from a bad cough or laryngitis or whatever, and he doesn’t want Wash to know because he knows Wash will worry himself to death and go into mother hen mode. So Tucker just avoids Wash and doesn’t talk to him all day. And Wash thinks he did something wrong. Wash works himself into a frustrated frenzy with thoughts like “Oh god it was that fight that one time. He’s gonna break up with me oh no oh no.” And he gets upset and a little angry because if Tucker is gonna break up with him he should just do it and not avoid him. So Wash goes to Tucker’s room that night and beats on the door and demands tucker let him in, and when tucker does, Wash doesn’t even hesitate. He launches into a whole speech about how messed up it is of Tucker to play with his feelings like this, he thought they loved each other why won’t he talk to him, did he do something? Did he forget something? What’s the date? Did he miss Tucker’s birthday? And Tucker just stares at him before grabbing a pen and paper and simply writing “I can’t talk.” and Wash just stares at it and mumbles “What?” And Tucker writes “I lost my voice. I didn’t want you to worry. I still love you ya big dork. You did nothing wrong.” And Wash just stares at him and Tucker sighs before putting the pen and notebook down and he hugs Wash, and kisses him on the cheek. And maybe he forces his voice to work and pushes out a whispered, raspy “I love you.” And Wash just smiles and kisses Tucker because he knows everything is okay.

The next morning though, Wash is on Tucker and demands he drinks warm tea and gets rest and Tucker just smiles because he knows that worrying and being a mother hen is how Wash shows he loves him and trying to stop Wash from loving him was the dumbest idea he ever had
