a gift from my mother, who could barely even look at it. she’s a female yellow paper wasp, a social species native to Hong Kong. I associate wasps with the fire element, for their aggression and intuition. to me they are symbolic of incredible individual strength, whether a solitary or social species, and building tenacious foundations. vacated paper wasp nests make an ideal writing surface for aggressive spellwork.
In Jewish tradition, it was once believed that the sting of a hornet could be soothed by crushing a housefly and applying it to the site of the wound.
look at the wonderful rubble leftover from this wasp mansion! FOUR FLOORS! with a helluva foundation, took some real tugging to get it off the underside of the deck. can you imagine writing curses on this? or any sigils relating to feminine divinity?
just sayin
