In almost every continuity, Optimus and/or Megatron dies.
I keep having this sad headcanon, where Megatron dies in Optimus’ arms. One was where Optimus has to be the one to kill him or that other one I deem a rare moment where Megatron jumps in front of Optimus to save him from an incoming shot. Regardless, Megatron is heavily wounded to the point he cannot be saved.
Megatron almost falls to a pit, but Optimus catches him in time & pulls him up. He holds him in his arms, attempting to find a way to save his life, but Megatron tells him that he cannot be saved. He is too wounded. Optimus denies, tearfully, because he knows Megatron couldn’t be saved. He sees Megatron’s red eyes turn yellow for the first time in years. They share a sweet moment, before ending it with a kiss, and Optimus feels Megatron’s form grow still and cold. And that is when he cries while holding onto the body of his best friend and lover.
will i write a fanfic about this? maybe but i am currently doing chapter 2 of my tfp megop fic
is there a happy ending where megs is resurrected because tf likes resurrecting characters? also maybe.
