Actually, Haaki couldn’t help having a few suspicions, but if he had learned anything it was not to let his paranoia cloud his judgement. Well... not too much. He offered a benign smile, or what he hoped, after long study of the Brothers at the chapel, looked like a benign smile, and shook his head.

‘It’s just... my brother-in-law says he gave a package to someone of your description, but it was never delivered. I’m sure it wasn’t your fault. He can be a bit... vague, sometimes. I just wondered if you knew anything about it?’

Making a living as a courier doesn’t pay quite enough. At least not enough to support Beck, her father, and her three brothers. So, the Breton has turned to a more… illegal means of gathering coin: stealing. Does she enjoy it? Maybe. But working as a petty thief and courier for the Guild in Riften pays much more than working as a simple Empire courier, so it’s worth it. So far, at least.

“Yeah, I feel it too,” Niv agreed quietly, coming to a halt. “I don’t think we should go that way,” she added and reached for Beck’s hand, ushering her to head back and find another way.

“Says you. Bold to steal from a fellow thief. Hand it back, now. If it is a meal you want, I will pay for it. Ask nicely.”

“It’s not that bad, is it?” Mithra asked as she followed the other woman down the unlit flight of stairs. As she caught up with Beck on the landing at the bottom, she immediately regretted saying it.

“Okay, I see what you mean,” she concluded after having spent a few seconds look about the room. “Can we go now?”

“Yes. S’wit. Much like calling someone an idiot. He was being an idiot, so I called him one. Cursing in another language is satisfying, yes?”

“You know, you could stand to be a little less condescending,” he pointed out. “If you really want us to hold hands, all you have to do is ask - nicely. There’s no need to be a dick about it,” he continued, placing both hands on his things as he bent at the hip, lowering himself to be eye-level with her.

Telindil stopped where he sat perched on the windowsill, one leg on either side and slowly turned his head towards her, fixing her a glare as if to say ‘are you fucking kidding me’. 

“Get your ass up here before I come back down and get you,” he hissed down to her.
