WIP Time! Progress on a composition for this line, last in it's subseries (I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!)

I'm... experimenting, alright? I couldn't think of relevant lineless background context without making a whole scene, so we have a whole scene. ;w;

... which is a big part of why this is taking me forever, but if I can avoid crapping out on the mons' render, it'll all be mostly worth it.

They're way too detailed for Pokémon, and simplification is something I'm still struggling with, but I didn't want to skimp on the sponginess of their algal manes, since it's a key part of their design.

Soft-Finish! Calling it for now~ Don't know if I'm totally satisfied with this, but I think I'm at the point where continuing to overwork it will not lead to any improvement. XP

I've got 3 versions, not sure which I like best. 0v0; Though note to self: next time I do a full scene like this, don't try to blend lineless with lined art on top of the different shading styles. This quickly got super-sticky... ;w;

4 species are featured here: The Tanninuki Line (Tanninuki, Belloruki & Babbanuki) & Terefugin, which I added "ears/horns" to in the final, as I got an idea that they could be mutated/petrified descendants of a certain water turtle final-stage... 0v0 I'll update with full Dex entries eventually, but I only have placeholder notes at the moment:

Background/Dev Notes: (Inspirations: Tanuki, Aquatic Plants, Periscope-Mimicry)

Tanninuki | The [Maiden] Pokémon | Water-Dark Placeholder reminders that these are 1) the most gregarious/mischievous, 2) periscope with their tails before emerging to play; and 3) hide inside and around the shells of Terefugin

Belloruki | The [Mother] Pokémon | Water-Ghost Placeholder reminders that these are 1) the mega-chonkers that do the heavy-duty cleaning, 2) have the longest, most luxurious “hair”; and 3) look after the babies when out and about

Babbanuki | The [Crone] Pokémon | Water-Ghost Placeholder reminders that this stage is 1) Memory-Made, 2) can be the best friend or worst nightmare; and 3) is the “Baba Yaga Boss” with a cane, eyes and ears throughout the territory.

Terefugin | The Shelter Pokémon | Rock-Water Placeholder reminders that this is 1) the drifting fortresses of the Tanninuki Line, 2) behave more like stone golems than like Pokémon; and 3) have “shinies” that feature ‘crystal veins’

Someone just asked me if Vaporeon was my favorite Fairy-type Pokemon and I'm like 99% sure they were trying to make fun of me so I just kind of went "Vaporeon is a Water-type...?" and yeah

Anyways now I'm trying to decide on my favorite Fairy-type

Blish: Ugly Pokemon (overland forme*)

Ability: Oblivious/Insomnia (Unaware)

A fish Pokemon dredged up from the deep, it seems to be in a constant state of malaise, an it whimpers and sighs when touched. 

Their thick, rubbery skin has a sticky texture and an odd odor, they show up on beaches at night and can't seem to move well under their own power.

HP: 40 ATK: 40 DEF: 55 SPA: 20 SPD: 55 SPE: 20

*Blish turns into its undersea forme when diving.

Jawbish: Trapteeth Pokemon

Water/Ghos

Ability: Strong Jaw/Insomnia (Unaware)Evolves from BLISH at lvl 30, at night, underwater. Its sense of smell is incredible, it can track prey in the darkest of waters for miles without losing the trail.

This pokemon's jaws can fire from its body at lightning speed, nothing can escape their grip. HP: 90 ATK: 112 DEF: 50 SPA: 30 SPD: 50 SPE: 115
