"She says we don't need to change. Nonono— it's okay. It's just the way we're wired." Gonna be so fr when I say that this was the scariest line in the movie for me. Not even in the sense of what happens after, but in the sense that I could genuinely see part of myself in Clark at that moment. And it was almost sickening.

Clark isn't a good man, but he's pretty damn nuanced despite what we see of him. He isn't all bad, either. I'd say very much gray territory. He's a curious man with a dream— having wonderful ideas & creativity. But at the same time, he's angry. He never takes accountability, he's lost in escapism— hell, it's even implied that he MIGHT be a domestic abuser, depending on how you interpret it. Despite that, it's VERY easy to sympathize with him, and that's what makes him so intriguing to me.

But, overall, The Backrooms film ended up having a similar presentation to that of I Saw The TV Glow:
