Water Up Fire Down
Water Up, Fire Down, is referred to yogic and traditional Chinese Healing practices. It is the core principle for good health.
Water Up, Fire Down is the same cycle as when it rains. The sun’s rays (as fire down) cause the rain to evaporate (water up). When the body is in balance, cool water energy naturally cycles upward from the kidneys toward the head, and warm fire energy is pumped downward from the heart to the lower abdomen.
When your body is not balanced, there is a reverse condition. The head becomes hot, and the lower Dahn-jon, which is the center of our physical energy, becomes cold and weak. It is easy for us to become unbalanced because our heads become busy and noisy, and our bodies become inactive as we sit at our computers all day. We get stressed out, and our bodies become unbalanced causing headaches, digestive problems, and poor circulation. That is why it is important to remember the Water up Fire Down principle.
The “Water up – Fire Down” Principle indicates that the body is in balance, and cool water energy is produced in the kidneys and should travel up towards the head keeping your head cool for a cool mind. When your head is warm, it causes a cloudy mind, headaches, and anxiety.
This principle also indicates that warm fire energy should travel down towards the abdomen causing a warm belly, which is good for the abdomen organs. This helps your digestive system and blood circulation. When you practice Water up Fire Down, your body reaches a normal state and your mind becomes healthy and at peace.
Even though it’s summer, we need to remember to keep our body warm and practice the Water up Fire Down principle.
