The Grand Palace (Phra Borom Maharatchawang) is a former royal residence in Bangkok, consecrated in 1782. It is one of the biggest sights in the city, but our absolute favorite is Wat Pho. The compound is home to a host of superlatives, including the largest reclining Buddha in the city.

On my last day in Bangkok I had a chance to visit #WatPho, the temple of the reclining Buddha. I had an opportunity to offer Buddhist prayers for my aunty Mona who recently just passed away and also observe the mesmerizing temple complexes. In the courtyards here I captured photos of some magnificent statues of what looked like asana like figures. Reading up a little more on this site I learned these actually depict different positions of Thai-Yoga – a modified version of the Indian Yoga. I leaned Wat Pho is home to one of the earliest Thai medicine and massage schools. Take a look through the photos and enjoy.
