I’ve read the whole Holmes canon several times and seen many screen adaptations, despite which - or, perhaps, because of which - the particulars of some stories may escape me. Today Holmes wasn’t the only one caught by surprise by Watson, reviewing for him the newspapers’ most recent stories on the imminently expected celebrity client:
