Enlisted to unleash our "stigma" crushing LOVE AMERICA TOUR efforts upon the community of Watts, WE THA JACKSONS made an unannounced visit to this area most popularly known for the 1965 Watts riots, a term WE shall never again use. Better described as a "revolt" against unfair police practices, WE boldly proclaim, "if you visit L.A. and fail to venture to Watts, then you haven't truly been to L.A. Unlike the famed Los Angeles "Rodney King verdict" Revolt, Watts has worn a negative stigma for over 50 years! However, far more than the events of 1965, Watts is a community with a ramarkable history. From the Metro Station to the infamous Watts Tower did WE THA JACKSONS walk. A sudden departure from a planned trip to The Cartoon Network, WE THA JACKSONS bailed at the Rosa Parks/Watts station and fell into what may possibly be our most inspiring stop upon this 48 State marathon. "Free Your Mind" was the oft repeated slogan as WE strolled down the crowded train ramp. Onto the busy streets were WE summoned. Infected by tales of crime, gang violence, poverty and plight, WE too had been plagued by the Watts stigma. Instead "Welcome to Watts!" did one passerby shout from his moving car and welcomed WE were! A sign bearing the name, Dr. Martin Luther King, stood adjacent in our vision signaling of more memorable moments to come. #watts #wattstowers #wattsproject #wattsca #family #blackfamily #WeAreFamily #IHaveADream #ForEverLove #familyfirst #familymatters #letsgotowotk #godsplan #loveamericatour #wethajacksons #familybrand #familytravel #familytree #familylove #familymagazine #familygoals #documentary #usa #mlk #explore #thebridgeswecross #unitedstates #50states #familyovereverything (at Watts, Los Angeles)
