“Incompressible Navier-Stokes”
When an earthquake occurs, seismic waves from that event propagate around the planet. Some of them head downwards into the planet, some travel along the surface. Seismic instruments on the opposite side of the planet detect this energy when it reaches them. This 3-D animation shows simulated paths through the planet Earth taken by these seismic waves - they are generated, are gradually bent upwards as they travel downwards into the planet, bounce off of and convert off layers within, and then finally make their way back to the surface where they can be detected.
Some odd music choices, but cool 3-D geophysics.
