Hello! I’m Crissy! Im a long time SN/Jensen fan. just now exploring the fandom. I’m going to the Orlando con in Sept & have been rewatching/finishing the series. I’m excited. I dropped off around season 10/11. It’s been fun to rediscover it now with social media. Everyone’s insights, observations, & theories are helpful. I finished all the past chapters of glitch in 2 nights, I’m obsessed! This feels like a real novel. I love your writing style. I must ask, when do we get to the juicy stuff with Dean & Y/N aka “Sabrina”? lol
Oooh, hi there and welcome to the blog, lovely!
Happy to hear you've been enjoying Glitch so far! 😍 To answer your question, since this is a looooong fic (understatement of the century), I do plan to drag out the slow burn (and your suffering) quite a bit. I don't want those two to get their shit together too quickly because let's face it – that'd be boring as hell, right?
BUT here's the good news: all of that doesn't mean we can't get some heat, some tension, and some almosts in there. There will also be some spicy fantasies and dreams coming up to heat up this slow burn even a little more. Consider them a preview of what's to come. The first is also coming up soon. There's some dreamy spiciness in Chapter 10, so hang in there. I won't leave you guys high and dry entirely 😉🔥
As for the overall slow burn end, I don't want to spoil too much, but think toward end of Season 3/early Season 4 as your sweet spot 🔮
I wish you tons of fun at the con in September! Thank you for this sweet ask! 🥰💜
Hey Wayne! Do you have any advice for writing long chapters? I’ve been in the process of writing Way Out West for months now, and I feel like I’ve been competing with my own brain for a bit.
Because of how long it’s been since I’ve shared anything new relating to the series, I feel like I have to get something out as quick as possible, which leads me to overthinking every little thing. You’re more experienced in writing series than I am, (I’ve only ever really done stand-alones) and i’m just curious if there’s any knowledge you could share about the process 🫶
Thank you!!! 🫂❣️
Hi Hayley, thank you for the question! ☺️🩵
And honestly? No lol. The long chapters happen kind of accidentally due to my never-ending panic that I won't have enough material for a chapter and then overplan (I'm bad at estimating and it's been a joke in my family for years 😂)
But usually, I have a vague idea for a chapter and then it just... snowballs into what you guys then get served. If you take Glitch for example, I have an idea for a case and then a certain hit list of things I want to happen during that case. For Chapters 3 to 5, I knew I wanted Sam and reader to bond, I wanted Dean and reader to bicker but also grow closer, I wanted her to do a tarot reading, I wanted her to show off her CSI skills, and obviously I still needed to do the actual case. I plan between 6 to 8 scenes per chapter, thinking each scene will have between 1k to 3k words, but it usually ends up being much, much more 😅
But what I can tell you is not to let the self-imposed pressure get to you or overthink too much. I know the longer you don't write and the more you sometimes procrastinate, the worse it gets, and the anxiety just grows and grows. But it's truly just in your head. Writing is supposed to be fun and an outlet, so don't pressure yourself to produce something when you're not feeling it or think too much about if this sentence sounds good, if this word fits, or if that paragraph is necessary. Just write what you wanna write and tell the story you wanna tell – no matter how long it takes. The right readers will find you and wait because they genuinely enjoy what you put out there.
Just look at me – I told you I've been thinking about Way Out West for the past months. I loved what you created and I don't care if I have to wait xyz weeks or even months for the next part. As long as you're happy with a chapter and the story you wanted to tell, I know it will be amazing and I'm sure others feel the same way about it ☺️🫶
But if you do wanna make it easier for yourself in the future and work with less pressure, write ahead as much as you can before you start posting a series. I had to learn that lesson as well and I'm still learning to plan ahead properly because life is always a little unpredictable (again, estimating is not my strong suit lol). For Glitch, I have now finished the entirety of S2 and I'm currently editing my way through it, but the chapters are now planned ahead till mid-January 🤓 Which means I can focus on other projects as well and don't have to panic when my kid gets sick again 😂
Hope that helped a little! Just take pressure off as much as you can and let the muse guide you. That's truly the best advice I can give you 😘
is glitch over? or will you be updating soon? (no pressure!!!!!!!!!!)
Nope, far from over, actually!
Always check the series masterlist ➡️ Glitch 🔮
All dates of upcoming chapters are listed there. I also announced this tiny break at the end of the last part posted and sent out two reminders this week that the next part is dropping on Friday, July 31 😉
I have an idea!! where dean Winchester is at a motel where it has a pool the first time they've been at a motel with a pool and it's surprisingly clean. (please do what you do best author love your fanfics!!!)
Sweetie, I'm so sorry it took me so long to answer this one. I know you sent this in a year ago, but at that point, I had already planned some motel pool fun as a third part of Florida!!!
I was sure I was gonna write it soon, but then life happened and I didn't get to it till a year later 🤪
But here's finally some motel pool fun for you! 💦😘
Hi Wayne! I just wanted to come on here and give my love for Time After Time - I just finished reading it on AO3 and it is a MASTERPIECE!!! I literally couldn’t put it down 😭
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing writing with us ♥️ I can’t wait to read more of your works! Lots of love!!
Aww, thank you so much!! So happy people are enjoying TAT over on Ao3 as well! 🥰💛
I just stayed up til 4:30 AM to finish reading Fresh out the Slammer, and I have to say that was one of the best fanfics I've ever read. It was like I physically could not stop reading. You're an incredible writer and you should be proud of the work you create. Never stop writing.
Oh my heart!! That means so much to me! Thank you, lovely!!! 😭🩵🩵🩵
Fresh out the Slammer is my favorite story I've written so far. So, so happy to hear it gripped you! 🥹❤️🔥
hi! i love your writing and the way you build entire universe with characters. they're memorable as well. i missed russell shaw's universe a tad bit more today, so just checking in if the prequel is on hold or something :)
Aww, thank you so much, hun! 🩵
I've shared four chapters of the prequel on Patreon, but not too many people were interested in it (or it was just bad timing). But since the series has around 12 chapters and not just five like TES, I didn't want to drag everyone through months of this. I also think the timing is a bit wrong since it's so heavy on war themes and we have enough of that irl right now 😬🙈
But I did post a little TES-unrelated Russell one-shot last Sunday that will hit tumblr in July! 🥰
At some point, I definitely want to get back to posting the prequel since I still love it, but I'll probably wait for the world to settle a little again first (and yes, I'm still optimistic it will eventually 🤞)
I just wanted to thank you. For sharing your writing with us all. It's so generous, to say the least. We get to experience your talent. Hell, even be changed by it. That is something special. You are something special. So... thank you. 🩶🤍
This is so sweet and is literally making me cry!! Thank you so much, lovely! 😭😭🥹
Honestly, my main goal is just to provide a little happiness and escapism for anyone who's having a tough day 🩵
