"Macho Man" Randy Savage defends the WWF Intercontinental title against the Honky Tonk Man at the Philadelphia Spectrum in October of 1986! This is an interesting match to watch, as both roles were reversed over a year later when these two clashed on Saturday Night's Main Event. Savage is the hated heel here. Honky Tonk Man is still early in his WWF tenure when, to the fans' chagrin, he was still being pushed as a babyface. Surprisingly, the Philadelphia fans don't completely hate him. Sure, they laugh when he misses a turnbuckle charge; but they react appropriately to the Macho Man winning via countout. Maybe they just hated Honky Tonk Man less than they did Randy Savage. Anyway, you would be correct if you expected a pretty good match between these two even with both combatants in different roles. Honky Tonk definitely made a better heel, but it's cool to see him working hard as the Macho Man's babyface foil!
