Truth be told, Mason had missed Ryder. Not constantly, or anything, but especially right after he left - he’d been a little adrift, anchorless amongst their sea of shared friends. He’d adjusted, sure, but he’d relied on Ryder. It was nice having someone in your corner.
Now it seemed like Ryder needed to rely on him - even if it was just for a fix. After the show the night before and the partying they’d gotten up to the night before, Mason had felt it a little the next morning; one of many signs that it wasn’t the summer of 2013 anymore.
Mason was standing outside the Cuban cafe he’d Googled, waiting for Ryder to arrive; they hadn’t set a time or anything, so it wasn’t like Ryder was late, but Mason’s attention was ping-ponging from people-watching to checking his phone to debating the pros and cons of just going inside and getting them a couple of seats. He was oblivious - or at least pretending to be - to the girls across the street ‘sneakily’ snapping pictures of him: fans he had more patience with than paparazzi. Not that he had many of either...
And then he spotted Ryder approaching, so he grinned and gave him a little wave. “Hey, man,” Mason called, waving a hand over the milling people around. “Hope you’re hungry, this place smells amazing.”
San Francisco is beautiful. Enjoy it while you can. Oh man. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve been here. Many, many, good memories. Did you know I used to play guitar near Fishermans Wharf back in my really young days? Good times. Granted, it did smell like fish half the time, but it was lovely seeing all the tourist. They were all so friendly.
Oh, the Ghirardelli Square is also an awesome place to check out. Who doesn’t love chocolate, am I right? Unless you’re severely lactose intolerant, then I do not recommended it.
Twin Peaks. Okay, that’s the last I’ll say about this city.

Movmnt Magazine aspires to bridge the gap between pop culture and today’s real talent, and recognize artists over fame junkies. We aim to bring fashion, dance, music and pop culture, together as a lifestyle.
The real talent Movmnt Magazine caught up with today was Mason McCarthy - we grabbed a few minutes with him backstage at the San Francisco leg of label Way Out’s national tour. McCarthy is the bassist and backup-vocalist for Jake Puckerman-led band Reflective Smoke, well known for story-songs like Let It Happen and Alter Ego.
