World Building Project #1
When a young person of the mountain people comes of age to go out on their own, they do, going out a wandering. They settle their own radii of land, creating a small open air home, somewhere to rest and store their belongings.
When a young person (or maybe not so young) decide that it’s time to find a partner a few things will happen. Men will begin to decorate the area leading to their homes with things (much like a bower bird.) Women will gather their things into a pack and strike out once more to find a mate.
After finding a radii that catches their attention they will stick around, sharing the abode of the man (and traditionally going out and living there for a few months before actually spending time with the owner of the radii itself) The men will continue to add to the beauty of their decorations, leaving gifts for the woman (or women) in their radii.
During this time the woman may go between multiple radii, and she may leave one or multiple at any time if she so pleases. When she finally finds someone who she wants to meet she will stay in the home and not leave until he comes home. Then they will meet and speak and court. She may still leave at any time. A few more months of this and the couple will usually decide if they will pair off.
After they are paired off, the woman will make an addition to the home, and this shows that no women looking for a mate are welcome.
(Women may decorate their territory if they are looking for a female partner, and Men may go striking out if they are looking for a male partner. In these same sex relationships, there is usually an effort made for chance meetings to happen, though the true meeting usually doesn’t happen until a few months just like opposite sex couples.)
