THE INTERVIEW.
If you could recommend one hidden gem around town everyone should try, what is it? What makes it so special?
"this is going to be a bit of a broad answer but i think everyone should visit the museum and historical locations around windsor bay." a little heat colored her cheeks at admitting something she nerded out about. "i'm a secret history buff, especially when it comes to architectural design and building, and visiting historical sights you can see the craftsmanship that used to be put into structures. even if it looks plain on the outside, the details inside is something you rarely see anymore." with a stopping motion of her hand she playfully conveyed that you didn't want her to go on there.
Would you say you’re easy to get along/work with? Why or why not?
at first she nodded. "absolutely. in my profession you have to be openminded and flexible enough to see someone else's vision. more than that, to make their vision into something tangible." thinking, ren gently chewed on the inside corner of her mouth. "that didn't come easy. i learned the hard way about that. but unless you piss me off, yeah, i'm easy to get along with."
We’ve all had our fair share of shit hit the fan and moments in the sun — tell me about a defining moment in your life, good or bad.
before lorenza offered an answer she took a moment to really think about it, consider the ups and downs of her past and the path of her life to where it is currently. then she smiled a bit, "i feel like so much of my life centers around work but so much schooling and then days filled with making a name for myself, a grind that never really stops, you know? but i think the most defining moment in my life was when i got humbled." while she laughed softly, ren brushed some of her long hair back behind her shoulder. "i'd gotten signed to the firm that i'm at and i was cocky because of it. i also thought i was pretty hot shit because i'd made a name for myself as an interior designer while i worked my way through school. i thought i was hot shit and that the work was pretty much a given for me." she let out a sigh and rolled her eyes at herself, "i lost a client to a more senior architect because i didn't listen well enough. i kept telling them what would be a little better to everything they'd requested rather than make what they wanted work. i was too focused on making some incredible show piece and it was a very loud rejection in the end. completely embarrassed me, got me in hot water with the executives, and nearly ruined the rep i had built thus far. having to walk all of that back and learn from it? yeah, that was defining."
Are you a leader or a follower?
"definitely a leader," she said almost too quickly, but it was more of an instinctual and easy answer than having anything to prove. "in my line of work you really have to be able to make yourself heard and seen. plus, the ability to lead a project is monumental." ren's smile dimpled her cheeks, "this isn't the path for passive people."
