boo,
produce project ep. 3 prompt, hidden prank wc: 657
she’s standing in front of the mirror, feeling a bit awkward at the idea of having to talk to herself out loud. she’s alone, though, save for the cameras that she knows are there and the mic on her shirt that she knows will pick up on everything she says to herself. it takes a moment before eunju actually looks at herself properly, looks at the girl she is right now and thinks about how much she’s been through up until now, the choices she’s made since the start of the show, about how close she is to achieving all of the things she’d wished for as a younger girl.
“eunjuie,” she says, suddenly, smiles and nods resolutely before starting again, “eunju-ah, you’ve done well this time, hm? i think you’ve grown a lot as a person and learned a lot while doing this show. you’ve met a lot of interesting new people and i think that you have friends now that are going to last a long time - i’m proud of you.” she swallows, pauses briefly before shifting a bit. “i know you miss your family but they’re all at home rooting for you to do your very best, so keep your head up, okay? you’ll debut coolly and get back to them before you even know it! don’t be so hard on yourself anymore, okay? let’s continue to work hard to be our very best and take care of ourselves so we can do well for the people who support us, okay? eunju fighting!”
she pauses again, at a loss for what else to say without giving too much of her personal issues away but doesn’t get the chance to think much further because it’s a matter of seconds before she’s face to face with something out of her literal nightmares.
“ah!” eunju shrieks, all but throwing herself back and away from the mirror, after aiming a kick in the spooky ghost’s direction before hauling ass. she’s in a rush to leave the room and doesn’t even bother to look back, screaming again when she runs into a crew member who had so kindly stepped in to stop her from bolting for the hills. “what? oh, my god -” she finally stops, clutching her chest, eyes tearing up already from the fright she’d had. “oh my goodness.” she says again, this time actually dissolving into tears, full-on crying from the relief of it being a prank and the come down of her initial shock.
“why would you do that?” she asks, a watery laugh wavering her words as she covers her face, squatting down to hide her embarrassment at having such a dramatic reaction to a scare on the other side of the mirror. “really! that was so mean! i thought it was real!” she stands up again, this time laughing properly, wiping away the tears gathering under her eyes. “i should’ve known, myungeun unnie was too calm coming out of here! she told me it was intense but she wouldn’t tell me - what the heck?” eunju walks over to one of the adjoining walls, slides down to the floor in an attempt to rest her heart. “oh my, that was actually really good. how did you do that?” she asks, curiously shifting onto her knees to shuffle back over to the mirror. she taps on the ‘glass,’ fascinated by the fact that it had fooled her so well. “wah, seriously. that was no joke.”
they flash the scary figure behind the mirror again, just for fun, at the same time she shifts to stand up again and eunju jumps even though she’d almost been expecting it and falls over onto her butt, eliciting a light laugh from the crew member who’d come to her rescue. she stands up again, this time with the intention of leaving. “yah! really, you guys are mean!”
