Did Helene always want a man like Don or did she have some other type of man in mind?
Don Collier is no man in hell that Helene had pictured herself being with. AT ALL. All her life, she figured she would be married to some man that her father ended up picking, perhaps a Jewish banker in Berlin before the war. Or, if Helene (or Isabel at that time since Helene is her spy identity) some ordinary man, who is gentle, kind, absolutely worshipped. You know, typical fantasy things. It is not like she is disappointed with her fate in being with Don and eventually marrying him years later. It is just simply that she has changed, wants had changed. Also, not saying her standards lowered either with Don. But there are qualities in Don that no man she has ever been with has. And in some ODD, MSYERTIOUS way, she is absolutely CRAZY about him.
