DID YOU SEE JESSIE SITTING ON BEN'S LAP?? JDHFJGHKG.
Well, she wasn't sitting on his lap, from what I heard, he was just sitting behind her 😅
And they're friends and they're so cute and he's so supportive of her and I love them.
sokka and toph are very similar in how they choose to present themselves to the world regarding their vulnerability. sokka has trouble expressing himself where grief & personal emotional struggles are concerned, being the help to others rather than helped by others, protector rather than protected, and this last one also applies with toph. meanwhile toph has trouble not with letting herself be a person, but to believe that ppl won’t take advantage of her or rob her of her humanity because of her gender and most of all her disability, which is an essential part of her personhood and has been used against her in the past. for this, toph struggles accepting the help people want to give her and sokka struggles to reach out for this help, but around each other that’s different.
one of the reasons sokka & toph’s friendship is so dynamic is because they are on the same level of intelligence and cleverness and on a certain way maturity (in different ways tho. for another day). katara and aang obviously appreciate and love sokka a great deal, but most of the time they fail to see sokka’s sacrifices and chastising for what they are; an attempt to keep them alive healthy and focused. toph, on the other hand, tortures sokka to hell and back but she always knows how to step back, let sokka take the lead, and follow through it. she knows when to listen to sokka and recognize and appreciate everything that sokka does for the group, and even her teasing goes in hand with their intellectual bickering and never an actual attack (which is why the jokes about toph calling sokka stupid are so painfully incorrect!! sokka is the only person toph considers to be at her intellectual level!! that’s the whole point!!!!!!)
despite toph’s trouble with showing vulnerability (and her bias regarding femininity because of her bias against vulnerability and it all comes to full circle) she fully trusts sokka as a lifeline to hold onto where she cannot see, whether that be on appa or a boat or hanging off an airship, in the literal air. for one, it makes sense that sokka is the one toph would hold onto not only bc of their similarities but also bc sokka was the only one she didn’t have a fight with at some point. sokka has never seriously yelled at her the way aang and katara have, or made petty ableist comments about her blindness, or any other shit that would make toph close off emotionally even more. sokka never takes advantage of this trust toph gives him from the start, and he chooses instead to trust toph right back bc he knows firsthand what it’s like to be excluded or misunderstood by aang and katara and their unbreakable bond. similarly to aang and katara, sokka and toph’s friendship is special and enduring bc they see each other in a very unique and personal way, helping each other grow without putting any kind of pressure on each other, but rather full-on support.
A lot of y’all guessed it right... my hair is now blue!
I thought this was obvious but if you see post content in our account split into several reblogs instead of one continuous long reblog that's most certainly because it's a discussion, it's several people each adding a different part and responding one another. it just happens that we all use the same account.
74, 107, 118?
74.) What time did you go to bed last night?
I think it was around 11pm
107.) Are you good at maths?
I am. Always enjoyed maths and all that ever got me was advanced and dual credit classes in high school
118.) What is something dumb you believed as a child?
anything and everything. I was such a gullible child for the fact that i questioned all the wrong things. I think my favorite was when i was younger my mom would take me to church every Sunday and in sunday school we'd learn about heaven. Well, there was a door in the room and stairs behind it (later learned it went to the baptistery) but i was convinced these were the stairs to heaven and the teacher was going to kill me and i would cry every time death was mentioned. Nothing quite like traumatizing a 3 year old to start the week off right
