The Fall
.
The will of the people
Has been lost
The desires of the few
Are being catered to
We stand still and watch
As they burn it down
Rescinding environmental protections
Aid and benefits get vivisected
Will the flayed body
Stay alive?
...
How long before factories
And mines and oil production
Begin poisoning the environment
Even more than they already are?
As the planet dies painfully and slowly
I must ask a real stupid question
To the 1%...
Was it worth it?
...
I shouldn't wait for an answer
You violently raped Mother Nature
Strung her up and bled her out
It's a real-time horror story
Left a lifeless corpse covered
In silver and gold and green bills
And the greedy butchers smile
As profit margins grow
...
Meanwhile, unemployment rises
Families walk the streets
Hoping to find some food to eat
And a safe place to sleep
Trudging along in the rain and sleet
As capitalism has them beat
...
All I can think...
Is that the wrong people are suffering
And eventually we must do something
That painfully obvious solution
Is to start a revolution
.
