I feel like some Star Wars dudebros who think Andor is objectively bad are not recognizing that perhaps that slow burn political spy drama is just a genre they're personally not interested in. I'm a writer. I'd like to think I can tell when writing is executing its genre tropes/conventions correctly. I think the writing in Andor is doing this. It doesn't look like most of the rest of Star Wars not because it's "betraying" Star Wars but because most of the rest of Star Wars is not a slow burn political spy drama. Star Wars is a vast franchise that has encompassed a number of different subgenres ever since the EU days so I don't see how this is a problem. Anyway when we decided that the humanities were "useless" subjects we created a society of people who cannot recognize something as simple as the concept of genre or genre preference in storytelling and can you tell I am losing my mind because this is not the first time I've ranted about the media literacy crisis
