I wonder if killing the gods released demons from whatever equivalent of the hells. And the candescent crest saw a chance to harness more power and control utilizing their cult tactics. I'm pretty sure Tyranny's big sister could rip apart the entire house if not for the fact that she's susceptible to whatever promise was made regarding these beliefs.
Anyway I'm betting a guy who works with death as a spell component probably DOES have strong opinions about this whole situation.
And though there's nothing to base this on just yet, I wonder if the celestials and other divine servants were turned loose on the world as well, directionless and without clear design for the first time. The stone of nightsong was created by a celestial after the god who ferried the souls of the elves was either dead or about to be (I forget) which may in fact suggest exactly that.
God I can't wait to learn more.
