I think I'm one of the few people who are a little bit sad about there being a season 2 soon.
And it's not that I think it's going to be bad or anything like that. Because I don't, I think it's going to be good.
But it's going to change things.
Once season 2 launches, the fandom is going to lose the atmosphere of having only season 1. After season 2 airs, there will never be another Crowley's flat fic that doesn't have to take it into account first. There will never be another post Armageddon't fic that doesn't have to take it into account first. There will never be an AU that doesn't have to take it into account first. And it's very likely they'll make references to things (or show us flashbacks of things) they did in the past, which will lead to every single fic about the first 6,000 years having to take that info into account first. Whether it's to ignore every single scrap of info in it or not, whether it's to cherry pick or not, every piece of fanfic written after season 2 will have a different feel.
And that's ok. But it leaves me a little sad, because I have such fond memories of season 1 and the years that have followed. The freedom we had. New content can be really fun. But. Like the folks who loved the book can probably attest, new content changes things, and often in a restricting way for fandom.
So if you're a little bit sad, it's okay. I'm a little bit sad, too.
