Kedreeva, She/They, Ace, 40. If you need someone to talk to, you've found me. You've found shelter where I keep vigil for those who need a solid wing under which to rest. Welcome. This is a personal blog with a lot of fandom stuff.
Peafowl Masterpost - please look for the answer to your peafowl question before sending an ask, or I will just link you again. I love answering questions, but many I get asked repeatedly despite the answer being readily available.

Since it's come to light that they're going to be lowering support for Tumblr, I'm letting you know that I exist on other social sites already, as backups.
I will be on Tumblr until the lights turn off, but if things do go south here and the doors close, these are the other places I can be found. I intend to wait and see how it falls out, and where the communities I'm in go, if anyhere. Or if Tumblr just manages to survive, I'll just keep being here until the end.
My other socials are below the cut.
I'm on Pillowfort! I'm on BlueSky! I'm on Dreamwidth! I'm on Mastodon! I'm on Twitter! I'm on Instagram!
I run an asexuality server, located here: https://discord.gg/TpX25AJf9S
I run a writing server on Discord, located here: http://discord.gg/RCawNpEQu3
I run a small Stranger Things server on Discord, located here: https://discord.gg/zRVCeg6Y2z

I run a peafowl server for owners, breeders, and folks that just like peafowl, located here: https://discord.gg/a6km4BvV6D
I have a Discord server for Longfeather Lane updates, to which I will post photos/videos/updates about my various pets and farm activities, and for general chatting etc. Located here: https://discord.gg/gJB3WGCxSX
If I come up with any more of them, I will add to this list.
Pics and information about farm animals and pets can be found on the Longfeather Lane farm website.
Author/illustrator Trung Le Nguyen has been live posting reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time on bluesky and just hit the first proposal. The replies are basically the sickos meme
I started a new Realm world (the old one is fine! I just wanted to test this one with a mod) on Minecraft, if anyone would like to come play. I got a resource pack that gives 32 new kinds of trees, and a chainsaw that insta-chops trees.
It's just open join at the moment, but please be kind to others.
whenever someone calls me and says they're from my bank or car loan company or whatever and asks me security questions, I always tell them "excuse me, you called me, how can you prove who you are" and every single time they act like it's the first time anyone's ever asked that, which absolutely boggles my mind. for the love of fuck please do not answer "security questions" when you didn't initiate the call, at least without making them answer a few first
I agree, never give your info in a call you didn't initiate. Phone numbers can be spoofed. They may actually sound like your bank or credit card company.
If you receive a call, hang up and call back using the phone number on their website. Explain that you received a call about X and if it's legit, they'll be able to tell you so. They're also not usually going to get mad if you say "I'm going to hang up and call you back." Scams will though. Because you won't be calling THEM back, you'll be alerting the bank someone is committing fraud in their name. So they'll get urgent about it. Ignore them and hang up. Call back on an actual line.
I don't remember seeing it, but have you/can you post a video of Bug getting excited to see you? I'm picturing a "ferret war dance" (a product of excitement or surprise, usually) but bird style and it's very silly C:
I was FINALLY able to get Bug's welcome home dance on video! Not super amazingly, but please observe this excited nerd careening around the
it is funny when I get asks like “haven’t seen grim in a while. is she okay?? is she dead? do you love her?” and then while I’m typing an answer, Grim is sprawled across my arm like this
A new day and a new book! Today I've got a single-author anthology to share with you. This is a collection of shorter Good Omens fics by Kedreeva, whose work I have bound a couple of times before. They've left the fandom (so don't go bugging them about it) but their fics are still up and they always meant a lot to me, so I collected some of them (not all, just my favorites) for my own offline collection.
For the cover we have allure book cloth in a pale lavender shade (it's called Wisteria) and lineco dark gray on the spine. The accent strip is chiyogami from a random scrap pack, with cranes in flight in shades of purple and gold. And we have gold HTV for the title. I made the ring of feathers from a free asset from the Noun Project. A lot of the fics I chose are wingfics, and many of them portray asexual relationships, so feathers, birds, and ace pride colors are a recurring theme.
Have a look under the cut for more!
Quick pic of the spine, nothing really unconventional there. It is hard restraining myself and putting things in simple fonts, but I have to admit it does make spine titling easier. And we have ace pride flag endbands, handmade double core with a plain black ribbon for the bookmark. The flags are kind of annoying to do; there is some math involved in getting the color changes in the right places. I like how they look, here and in the other books I've done them for, but I'm not sure it's worth it unless it really hits the theme like this one. They're perfect here though.
Renato Crepaldi marbles for the endpapers, ace pride color edition. I bought these quite a while ago without a clear idea of which project I was going to use them for. They're perfect for this one, in color and in shape. The marbling can sort of suggest feathers, and the swirls can be a sort of stylized wing shape, like the cranes on the cover.
Same feather graphic on the title page and table of contents that I used on the cover. It pleases me to no end that I got the contents to sit inside it. Don't strain your eyes trying to read them; I've got links at the end of the post. The extra feathers in the middle of the title page are something I put together years ago to be a scene break divider in another fic. It didn't work so well there, being too detailed and visually heavy, but being slightly grayed out and enlarged made it perfect for the title page. And a really simple layout for the interior, retaining all the summaries.
Overall I am very pleased with this one, if in a sort of quiet way. It's not loud and it's only a little elaborate but I feel like I chose well to suit the contents of the stories. It's understated but it's rich. It's exactly as it should be.
And to close out, here are the links:
Birds of a Feather, a collection of short fics and the one I chose for the title, because I thought it made the most sense with the theming
You're the Only Prayer I Need, wings and also scales
A Sky Full of Stars, beautiful and unique setting
A Little Less Celestial, some sleepy non-sexual intimacy
Just One Yesterday, a time loop story
Brand New Feeling, they go to the beach
And A Nightingale Sang, they go to the Ritz for the first time
When in Rome, a two-part historical interlude
(Not Just) Any Port in a Storm, the only sexy one in the bunch, though a very asexual kind of sexy
Symmetry in Favor, a 5+1 fic
Of Firsts and Foremosts, an ancient history fic
Binary Stars, a pre-fall fic
Like a River Flows, a memory loss story
The Loneli(ness) of a Wild Loch, in which Crowley is Nessie
I may have left the fandom completely, but I love to see people bookbinding fanfiction in general (it's SUCH a cool craft, I've done booklets but not full books, so I'm always impressed to see people's full books), and the craftmanship in your bookbinding is awesome! The gold on the cover is beautiful, and a perfect choice for the endpapers, that's beautiful paper!
I’ll be sad not to see Mantis on my dash anymore, but I’m glad that she’s going to a home where she can hopefully make friends and you (and we) can still get updates on her. Question- I know the way Bug interacts with you is special because you are her mother and that couldn’t be replicated with another human, but what about Mantis? Given than she is not imprinted, is she likely to be just as friendly and cuddly with other humans or is there a difference in the way she acts with you specifically because you are pretty much her grandmother?
Mantis is friendly with anyone that visits as well! She should have no problems at all being relocated, and I expect her to continue to want physical interaction with her new owners.
Bug is actually friendly with other people, too! She'll happily take pets from just about anyone else. She may or may not like anyone as much as she likes me, but neither she nor Mantis would have an issue settling in a new home if the new home was similarly attentive to their wants (though I think Bug would MISS me, she does not throw herself a little party every time someone else visits, only when I come out after being gone for a bit). Bug is staying here because she is special for other reasons, because I made her specifically to keep her forever by putting together two birds who were very dear to me for sentimental reasons. It's not really the same situation as with my other birds, even Mantis, but not because she can't go elsewhere.
This is GOING to come up again I'm sure, because Bug will continue to raise babies: I physically cannot keep every baby Bug raises, nor will I want to. I'm going to be keeping Princess at least, and likely Dragonfly (because she hatched on my birthday), BUT there's also every chance I do eventually sell Dragonfly. I will sell other babies Bug raises. She is going to (hopefully, if I'm lucky) live for the next 15+ years and raise babies every summer. They cannot all stay here. This is the joy and the sorrow of breeding.
But despite the "my pets" tag all the peafowl get for filing purposes, the peafowl are not pets, and legally that is a very important distinction. The peafowl are livestock, and I am not a pet parent, I am a breeder.
I assume you're asking because of Mantis. I love Mantis a great deal! It is very important to me that she be safe and happy. Right now, she is in a situation where neither of those are true to the extent I would prefer for her. The birds here do not like her, and she is constantly on guard against them, and gets chased often. She can't come hang out with me because Bug won't let her.
She will be moving to a location where her new owners will be able to pester her to her heart's content, and be kept with other young birds that will all have a chance to become friends. My friends there learned to raise peafowl from me, so Mantis won't be exploited for egg production, she'll be allowed to raise babies in a nice big pen, she will receive proper nutrition. She will have mild winters and plenty of treats and be loved.
This is a form of love! It is the form of love breeders have for their animals, and the offspring of their animals. The form of love where you want the best for them, but you caused their creation knowing they probably wouldn't stay with you. I had hoped (and wanted, and still want) to keep Mantis, but in light of how her social situation progressed, I love her enough that I will put her wellbeing before what I want. I don't have the ability to put her in a better situation here, but I DO have an opportunity to place her in a loving home where she'll be able to flourish. And I want that for her. A safe home to live their best lives in is what every breeder wants for every one of the animals they produce.
