Writing/drawing AUs that are just COMPLETELY on a different plane than canon.

Like, forget just endlessly rearranging and fenagling canon to be a bit cooler or slightly fill in a certain character’s backstory. Forget taking the characters almost exactly as they are and plopping them somewhere else. I’m’a just take these characters’ main idea and WRITE A NEW VERSION OF THE WORLD that has its own INDIVIDUAL VIBE completely different from the original, and write these characters as they would be if they had really grown up here.

Catch me putting these characters in a Scottish/Irish rainy coastland selkie-inspired MER! AU, where they’re totally different people because they’ve lived in a completely different world.

Catch me making a story that isn’t about romance because everybody’s already married, or a story where something in history happened completely differently and the whole magic system/lore of the world is completely different, or where I just pinpoint what issues the world of the original would cause in the characters’ psyches and make up a continuing plot based around their emotional struggles instead of action-packed fight scenes.

I don’t know if any of this is coherent, but I’m just tired of messing with things. I want to make something new. and if this isn’t some sort of creator mood, I don’t know what is.

God Damn.

You know what? I am proud to be in the supernatural fandom. Most times after season finales, you get fics, and they're horrible--steupified ramblings of a viewer in shock, reacting. They're awful. and then, after a few days, you get better stuff. but now, in less than 24 hours since the finale, and I've read, already, 3 good post-season finale fics.

and they're not just "oh, not bad for a finale reaction fic" good, they're, like, really good.

so yeah, I'm a supernaturalist. and Damn, I'm proud of it.

Brittany's the best bunny drawer ever. We're making a series, Starkids With Bunnies. They will be wonderful and shall be framed in museums.
