Loved Track #14 - Every Time I Die - We're Wolf
Do I love this song? Yes.
Every Time I Die is awesome. They're probably one of the best metalcore bands to ever grace the scene, mixing kickass Southern rock with highly literate lyrics -- that are mainly about partying and have a good time. And by literate, I mean Keith Buckley actually studied English in college.
We're Wolf spins the metaphor of a werewolf to talk about partying. The theme can be summed up in one line, "I've been bitten by the party animal." Well, let's back up. This song starts off with a cowbell, which describes their personality as a metalcore band better than I ever could. ETID crafts a great atmosphere here: Think an episode of Scooby Doo meets the Dukes of Hazard and you're not too far off. The Southern rock influences are in full display and I love that groovy Southern rock breakdown near the end, boosted by the above "party animal line" and Keith declaring, "I gave the world one hell of a time tonight. I don't regret a thing except for the times that I got caught givin' it." Wow. Just amazing. All hail ETID; they put most of the other bands in their genre to shame.
