Our project to build a personal wardrobe from scratch seven years ago has become so much more. First, it slowly expanded to include friends and family and then went online to a Tumblr blog until a few choice publications posted about us and we began to really take off. Since that point, our collections have evolved and expanded, but our mission has remained constant: to empower daily life by way of badass clothing. It's a blast coming up with new and different ways of harnessing that badass feeling; whether it's working on designs that are directly inspired by specific characters, building on narrative and mythological themes to make our collections, or by creating something completely unique. We couldn't do it without you; your support and feedback have been invaluable throughout the formation of the Volante brand. Like many start-up businesses, this five year mark feels like a huge milestone. We're excited by where the first few years have taken us and we're even more excited by where we'll go next! As we grow, we have been able to add to our team slowly but surely. Last summer, we hired a new technical designer, Kocayne. She's brought her own expertise and vision to our company and has taken over the majority of our custom projects, optimizing and creating the patterns that Autumn continues to sew. With her on board, we will soon be able to expand our range of custom products and options, as well as expand our production capacity to really push into new territory for our in-house production.
Sarah has also begun running our event circuit full-time after taking a few years for graduate school. Volante Design will go to even more new places in the future, with more than twenty-two shows this year alone, including E3, Denver Comic Con, PAX Unplugged and possibly even Pax West (we've prayed to the gods of PAX and are waiting for a sign). We may even leave the U.S. and take Volante Design abroad!
We've been talking about making licensed products for a few years now and it's finally starting to happen. This is exciting news in and of itself, but it's allowed us to get even more creative with our original designs. You may have seen some of that new direction in our new releases and concept art this year, as the Augment J3 release and the Shinobi and Samurai concepts break a trail into new territory.
We are leaping to new heights and are, as always, eternally grateful to have you with us on the journey!
