Can we talk about how adorable SCHOOL NURSE WES would be? I feel like that’s a very important au possibility.

oh. my. GOD. YES YES YES. Dawn getting hurt somehow, falling off the jungle gym or something and really scraping up her knees and hands pretty bad. And when the aid brings her into Wes she's crying and wants her daddy. Wes is able to calm her down and get her patched up and he's just so nice and she likes him, but she still wants her daddy. So they call Ben and he comes down and he's thankful that Wes took care of his little girl (and of course ~feelings~ lmao).

Dawn always saying "hi" to Wes when she sees him in the hall. Maybe she starts stopping by before she goes home to say good bye to him. And one time she gets distracted talking to him and Ben gets worried (ofc) and comes looking for her and finds her with Wes. And you know maybe they chat a little. Dawn picking up on something between her daddy and Wes. She's pretty sure it's love. And she's pretty sure she's okay with that.

So apparently I have a thing for Ben being some kind of supernatural creature that has been abused by humans, is being hunted by humans, or has been caged by humans and Wes has to rescue/save him somehow.

Ben, Mr. I-refuse-to-care-about-anyone, for some reason decides to ask Wes where he's headed. When Wes says he's visiting family there's a spark of something, sadness or longing, in Ben's eyes. That's when Wes knows that there's more to this guy than he's showing, but he doesn't press. They're not going to see each other again right? Ben fixes his car and Wes goes on his way. Ben can't get the man with the bright blue eyes out of his head no matter how many times he tells himself to forget him.

On his way back home, Wes stops at the little town again. He doesn't go to the mechanic's place, that would just be weird, though he really wants to. Instead he goes into the little diner. Lo and behold the mechanic is sitting at the counter drinking coffee. Wes decides to take a seat next to him and start a conversation. Ben looks absolutely shocked to see him again and, though he tells himself he shouldn't, he grudgingly has a conversation with Wes.

I don't know where it would go from here (I think the trope generally devolves into Wes staying at Ben's house and them doing the do and falling in love or something), but somehow they would fall in love.

AU where Ben moves into the apartment next door to Wes's. Wes tries to be friendly to his new neighbor, but Ben is a grouchy asshole and barely says two words to him and Wes is just kind of thinking "who shoved a stick up your ass". But then...

But then several weeks later he catches Ben feeding a stray cat on the fire escape that's outside their windows. Ben is talking in a soft voice to the cat and petting it and it looks like maybe his grouchy neighbor isn't so bad after all. Wes crawls out there too and Ben still doesn't say much, but it becomes their thing to hang out on the fire escape with the cat and little by little they get to know each other and open up to each other.
