Roses gifts
A lovely red flower,
Romance, some assume,
But just a sweet plant,
Ready to scratch always.
Beauty, smelling lovely,
How perfectly described,
But how deceptive also.
I always think words are weapons,
And have used them so;
Isn’t that a roses thorns?
I never wanted beauty,
People claim that I have it,
Never trusted attraction,
Others have declared it.
But words, like thorns, cut,
Perhaps even worse than a rose,
Because words attack emotions,
They strike at self-worth,
And form beliefs in others.
Now I seek praise for creations,
Knowing words are my tool.
After all, a rose by any other name smells sweet,
And its thorns remain just as sharp.
