@eddiebinge reviews: Heartless (2009)
Eddie plays: Weapons Man (IMDb link)
Heartless is the story of Jamie Morgan, a young man with a large heart-shaped birthmark on his face, and a deal he makes to be rid of it. Jamie meets Papa B (Joseph Mawle) and agrees to perform acts of "chaos” (graffiti) for him in return for the removal of his birthmark via magical means. This is all well and good, until Papa B sends the weapons man (Eddie) to Jamie’s house the day following his transformation to give him his first task.
Despite being hundreds of years old, the weapons man is smartly dressed and has a taste for the stylish objects (such as yucca plants) in Jamie’s flat. After some brief banter about murdering his wife with a chainsaw because she wants to decorate the bathroom, he opens a green snakeskin laptop. It is this laptop he uses to discover Jamie’s first act of chaos: a brutal murder involving a heart being cut from a live victim on the next full moon. “Very classy.”
Naturally Jamie doesn’t want to kill anyone, so it’s up to the weapons man to convince him. Using a dowsing rod, he finds the weapon Jamie must use to kill his victim which is, luckily, in Jamie’s flat. After Jamie makes it clear he’s refusing his act of chaos, the weapons man tortures him telekinetically.
The dowsing rod. Unintentionally but hysterically funny.
The weapons man may have had his own smiley, cockney charm, but he was also curiously creepy (he comments on his job being different before Jack the Ripper - how old is he exactly?) and obviously powerful (he can throw Jamie across a room using only the power of his mind - what else can he do?)
☑ Cops & Robbers
☑ One scene cameo
The film was rubbish but Eddie’s cameo was wonderful.
