When I watched planes strike towers I was amazed. Struck by the power of evil. In a sense of urgency we ran to battle without the knowledge of who we were really Fighting. The phrase United we Stand was implemented. We stood. I feel as if we should have brought on a campaign of love. Everyone now hates the idea of war. What few remember the anger we felt that day. Anger enough to join the fight. I joined the military with that anger. Within that anger I met a lot of wonderful people. One in-particular, was a Muslim who fought beside me. Fasting while fighting for America's sense of retaliation.
Which brings me to the #WEARE when people would talk to me about their distain for "arabs" I would think to a man that would fight next to me, a man that eventually gave his life for me and my fellow servicemen. He was a muslim, he was an American. when I think of my unit. I think we. #WEARE Americans.
