That's really sad, when you see an endangered creature diminish year after year, there's no awareness at all, and I personally don't know when people will realize the gravity of what we do😥 Video Via @juansharks - In response to all the comments on my last post I wanted to shed light on certain comments. My focus is on spreading awareness and not hate. Even if that white shark had been caught in a tuna pen in 2004 the issues remain the same. Sharks need protection, world wide shark populations have been fished out by 90 to 95 Percent in just the last 50 years. Some articles about the white shark dead on the deck of the boat in my last post suggested that it was Euthanized because it looked sick or injured. For future accidental bycatch, large sharks like this should be released. I have watched a white shark that had been caught and then even dragged out by its tail backwards, it was likely near death, but once released it did sink but then regain composure and swam away. I have also helped pick up what looked like a dead tiger shark on the sand and swim it back to life with the help of friends . In deep water that free fall could be enough to get the oxygen supply going to give that shark a fighting chance. This may not happen for all sharks but my point is that they deserve a chance to survive and there is no reason to take a live (or dead) shark out of the water. Sharks are toxic for human consumption and their role as apex predators is crucial to the health of our oceans ecosystem. This video post is a mega mouth shark caught and even though it may not survive it was given the chance and either way at the very least it was returned to the ecosystem. Video found @protectwildanimals @shelle_belle_ thank u for speaking up about Bycatch and caring about our oceans. BYCATCH, in the fishing industry, is a fish or other marine species that is caught unintentionally while catching certain target species and target sizes of fish, crabs etc. Those that are not desired for their meat, are simply returned lifeless to the ocean. #saveourseas #saveouroceans #deadoceans #wearekillingourplanet #humansaremonsters #savetheplanet #wakeup #bycatch https://www.instagram.com/p/B1VR6H_lgjQ/?igshid=l7p1ovl81p3a
