The Battle of Brookvale. It's always great when @manlyseaeagles and the @melbstormrlc play as we get to relive this moment. Undoubtedly the most infamous clash between to two sides was in Round 25 of 2011, when Melbourne – on the back of 12 straight victories – headed to Brookvale Oval to take on a Manly side on a 10 match-winning streak at the venue. Manly kept pushing with repeat sets at their line. The Storm defended with grit and determination, repelling several advances, including five players to stop winger David Williams close the line. Here’s where frustration boiled over to spark the infamous brawl. Darcy Lussick took exception to Ryan Hinchcliffe’s elbow. A push, a slap and players came in from everywhere. Most will remember what happened next in this game. Adam Blair and Glenn Stewart were sent to the sin bin for their part in the congregation. As Stewart walked off, Blair walked up beside him and said a few words. They pushed and starting throwing punches, then all 34 players seemed to get involved – including the bench. Stewart and Blair were sent off for the rest of the game.
