Kids, that's all they were. Kids with extrordinary powers and a bent for vigilante work instead of structured heroics. Maria studied the official reports, the newspaper stories, the few grainy photos her men had been able to dig up,and thought she understood. Maybe she'd been... less structured at their age. Before the Marines, Iraq, Afghanistan, before Madripoor and SHIELD. She had a criminal record herself, expunged or sealed or what have you due to her age at the time, and she'd been expelled from school atone point as well. Fighting in the hallways, and daring to win. No one had ever asked her why she was fighting. But these kids needed stopped, or recruited, before they went too far and killed someone. Accidents happen, and she didn't want to see these kids around when one did... SHIELD was supposed to protect and serve the innocent, not shoot them.
