after chatting and discussing a few head canons when it came to jack + sally’s relationship w/ @weariedbones this list is what we were able to come up with,
beginnings
when she first woke up, sally abided by dr. finkelstein’s rules and tried to think more rationally rather than feel emotions which conflicted with her first meeting with jack since she was also never informed of the pumpkin king when she was sent out to run errands for the first time outside of the house.
needless to say, sally found jack confusing at first and didn’t like him in the slightest. she had no concept of friendship and was cold + distant, and everything that jack did seemed to either confuse or agitate her.
the more time she spent outside of her home and back when she had the freedom to do so, jack was the one who ultimately made her feel things she came to understand as ‘affection’ and ‘love’ and once she realized this she began avoiding him in worry of being bothersome.
then the shyness hit, and the quiet veil fell over her. she became anxious and every time jack offered her company as much as she wanted to say ‘yes’ she ended up finding a reason to go home.
when dr. finkelstein takes notice of her change in character and personality he begins to punish her relentlessly, locking her up in her room due to the lack of attention she gave him where in time, sally became fed up with his ridiculous antics and began slipping deadly nightshade into his soup as an act of rebellion and her desire to spend time exploring the outside world again.
prior to their romantic relationship every month of the upcoming harvest sally wakes up early and sneaks out before dr. finkelstein wakes up and she makes her way to the pumpkin patch where, she gives each pumpkin a bow or a bow tie knowing that jack likes to name his pumpkin children
there was once where sally fell off the spiral hill and she fell on top of a baby pumpkin, stunting its growth. devastated she did what she could to help and placed the pumpkin in a basket and bundled it up to keep it warm. she left an anonymous apology note for jack. she stopped going to the pumpkin patch every halloween after that incident.
present
post-film sally moves out of her ‘father’s home with the help of her friends and starts a business as a seamtress/tailor.
she gains her confidence back and is able to balance her personality out after having an identity crisis for so long.
to show her continued affections sally makes jack very detailed christmas quilts which the pumpkin king ends up playing ‘i spy’ with.
she also made jack a quilted picnic blanket for one of their anniversaries so they can take a picnic on top of the spiral hill whenever they liked.
she fixes up jack’s suits if they ever have tears and makes him new ones while he tries his best to help her reattach limbs when they fall off.
though in canon it is said that jack and sally have skeleton children ( possibly reanimated by dr. finkelstein ) they adopt instead from halloween town’s local orphanage and love their children unconditionally.
