       “ – – DID I HEAR SOMETHING?” let it be known that eddison tollett is a dramatic little bitch sometimes. he glances around the area. “strange, thought i HEARD something.” his lips pull together, pursed in silent anger. then, he glares at yoren – or maybe THROUGH yoren. edd doesn’t appreciate being lied to… and he only has THIS to look forward to for the rest of his life. his hands clench at his sides, and he considers drawing his sword… but he cannot. yoren is his superior. he’ll somehow get him to fall off the edge of the wall, mark his words… er, thoughts.

    “ – – REALLY?” eddison tollett is a SIXTEEN year old squire of the vale, looking up at the honorable member of the night’s watch. he plays with the hem of his tattered shirt. he’s not lucky like his cousins, who are the lords and ladies of house tollett. edd’s lucky if he’ll be knighted someday. what yoren has told him makes him feel like he COULD take on the world… imagine that, a member of the night’s watch, protecting the realm. 

     and maybe it will encourage the ladies to look at him! he’s small for his age, barely looking old enough to carry a sword. “i … wow… i’d like that.” it’s not that he really wants the attention of the ladies; he knows he must marry one eventually, and that is his motivation… his duty to have them pursue him so he won’t have to do the courting himself. edd wonders if the guys will look at him, too… his good friend tymothy has such a lovely smile, and every time he looks at edd with it, he melts a little bit. he can’t explain those feelings, but he wouldn’t be mad if someone looked at him more romantically. 

         “i’d – i’d have to talk it over with me da’… but i think… i might want to join.”

EDDISON “EDD” TOLLETT (18) sits amongst the new recruits.  he stares wearily at the stew and bread before him.  this sucks.

Another NIGHT’S WATCH RECRUIT (24) turns to him.

Edd nearly chokes on his bread.
