weaselhugo started following you
"Hi Hugo, do you still have my copy of Fantastic Beasts? I don't mind if you do, it's just I couldn't find it the other day." She smiled.

scorofthemanor:
ooc; i feel like blood purity is very old hat now. a new war, to be really interesting, should be over something far less black and white. like, some organization that believes knowledge should be free for all, including stuff in the department of mysteries. or a fanatical group who are determined to out all wizards to muggles, or even a war between wereolves and vampires that wix get sucked into because they've started forming closer alliances with werewolves over the years.
Hmm… that’s really interesting. So would like the side that the “good” side be on would be the one wanting to let the muggles know of their existence? and then the “bad” side would be the ones wanting to keep it a secret still and are going to lengths to cover them up?
ooc; i think the point would more be that you couldn't call either side good or bad? like, those (probably the ministry) wanting to uphold the statute, would try to cover up incidents, obliviate muggles, and arrest offenders, and even out fear propaganda to keep wizards away from muggles, which the pro-muggle group would feel is very wrong. but they would be blatantly breaking the law, not going through the proper channels to try to get the laws changed, so it would be this huge mess.
i'm just trying to think about how scorp would react to something like that, because he thinks wizard-muggle relations should be greatly improved, and that they should be helping each other, but he wouldn't approve of breaking the law unless absolutely necessary. so i'm imagining all these people sort of stuck in the middle, not really agreeing with one side or the other completely, and thus being written off as an enemy by both sides. and you'd have teens and young adults being drawn to a new cause, because of the excitement and possibility and righteous indignation, getting into yelling matches with their parents and grandparents who think the old ways are best.
you'd have gryffindors yelling about protecting muggles, and you'd have gryffindors yelling about upholding the law and order. you'd have slytherins who want nothing to do with muggles, and slytherins who see this as an opportunity for success and wealth in uncharted territory.
but i'm imagining graffiti both in diagon alley like 'OBLIVATION IS WRONG' and 'WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO LIVE IN SECRECY' and in muggle streets like, 'MAGIC IS REAL'.
so i'm sure there would be a lot of people who would want to abolish the statute of secrecy either because they feel like it's the right thing to do and are being swept up in the cause, or because they think they could profit from it and don't care about the obvious complications that would arise. but there would be those who see how absolutely chaotic things could be, and how badly it could go if the situation got out of hand, and how it needs to be a slow, safe change, but the pro-muggle group isn't willing to wait.
and war is probably kind of a strong word for what this would be, but i think that would be part of the ministry's fear, that the rebel group would eventually turn to violence either for the cause or because they feel the need to fight the ministry. so there might be skirmishes, though i imagine any actual fighting would be between those caught breaking the law and the auror department.

welcome back babu
I am back. Thank you kindly. Wahoo. I'm a very burned and tired but I am here. Coping with my lack of good judgment of sunscreen application.
