GOD i have got to get weaver back in my brain in a way that is more than holds him like a cat look at this thing. i've had him for longer than i've had a tumblr (pre 2011) and do not even have much of a tag for him the poor little dude
so to give a quick rundown weaver is a character of mine thats this ugly but charming little patchwork dragon plush toy that used to be a guy but got cursed by his witch teacher for ??? some reasons i cannot perfectly remember but it was a con of some kind on her part that probably was a lot less personal to him than he imagines in his head.
it is very hard to go from a human sized guy to the size of a housecat and made out of cloth. he is effectively immortal like this insofar as he is repairable (not burned or obliterated). this is good and also bad. trying to travel and find your teacher for answers when she is batshit talented at magic as much as she is at disappearing is precarious. a lot of things think you are very cute very huntable or simply do not notice you at all. age is a nonconcept when you can just refresh your body's materials but that will fuck you up mentally every now and then, effectively being a walking talking ship of theseus thought experiment.
hes forgotten his name on purpose in spite and deeply regrets it. he has nothing from his parents to claim, not even his own body. he is but cloth, magic, and a soul very thoroughly tethered to it. his body limits his magic output a lot, even though he's a veritable wellspring of it in compact form, but he has to be careful not to do anything that will destroy his body too bad on the output. this is a frustrating limit, as he was pretty nifty with his magic when he was flesh and blood.
he goes between periods of settlement and travel. he rather likes to stay in libraries for those who will have him- he's perfectly capable of speech and relatively well suited to the environment and teams, if they can get past the novelty of his form and treat him respectfully. he may not be able to perform magic to the degree he'd like to, but he anticipates getting a body again one day may be possible, so he's learning. when he's satisfied or restless, he scouts travelers and adventurers to party with him. as in, like. travel together, lmfaooo he isn't very good with raves.
at one point id pair him with other ocs or characters in prospective adventure-type stories for him to function as a tutorial or guide type character. kind of like issun with okami, but maybe not as charismatic and snappy haha. totally built to give info and help the adventurer "level up and learn new skills" as they went.
there was one point where he'd mislead another oc of mine into bringing him to viv(who may become vic/vittorio at some point JFJF we'll see, depending) who is a literal contract demon at that setting because he thinks that's one of the only sorts that has enough magic to do anything to find and catch his teacher, if she's still around, but viv hears who he's talking about and sets him up to make a choice to sell out his friend he's been traveling with to achieve his goals much in the same way his teacher sold him out to achieve her own, which, you know,,
