SEO Agency Tools Price Comparison 2015

What SEO tools are the best for an agency? How can you get the most features with the least overlap? How much do these tools cost, apples to apples?

The first two questions are outside the scope of this post at this time, but we’ll begin by tackling the pricing issue. Even then, it’s like trying to herd cats. Instead of trying to compare all of the features at once, we’ll compare the prices by several key features in isolation.

Price per Sites / Projects

One easy way to start is by looking at the prices per sites tracked. In the chart below, we started by plotting all the dots for the plans described on the websites. Then, we filled in the points in between the stated plans. This helps to give a little more accurate picture of what happens in reality.

For example, a company may offer 25 sites for $50 ($2.00 per site) and 50 sites for $100 ($2.00 per site). But if you have 30 sites, you need to upgrade to the $99 plan, where your cost will be $3.30 per site. If we had more points filled in on the X axis, you would see the lines overall sloping down, but with little spikes up after you upgrade to a new plan.

Price per Keyword Tracked

Below are the prices per a very popular feature, keyword tracking.

In the chart below, you can see the price-per-keyword starts out much higher in the basic plans, and there is a lot of variation in the price differences. At the middle-level plans, things start to settle down, with lower costs and smaller differences. By the higher-level plans, prices have flattened out at $0.08 to $0.11 per keyword per month, when used at capacity.

As with the “price per site tracked” graph above, if all the “in-between” dots were added and connected, there would be peaks and valleys due to the different utilization rates.
