I find it pernicious* that my professor disregards the importance of learning to code for the visually impaired even to the point of discouraging it because it "isn't pertinent to class objectives".
My professor stresses the importance of avoiding sloppy coding (adhering by HTML5 coding rules), but I believe that ignoring website accessibility is getting into the bad habits of sloppy coding as well. It's hardly complicated or expensive and yet a (far) majority of websites are still inaccessible.. so that's a problem. I'm making it a priority to make my websites as accessible as I can for the ones I design in class. (If anyone has any good resources for learning to design for accessibility, you should inbox me!)
