Spellbound to witness in such clarity: an edge on galaxy (bc. we see it from its plane of rotation) with a lane and a bulge - at the periphery of a dying star.
Southern Ring, a dying star, planetary nebulae expelling mass in successive waves. A binary star. Blue=hot ionized gas heated by the leftover core of the star. A near-infrared image, applying color to bring up details.
